New research presented that orange juice is particularly advantageous for any individual who struggles to maintain good heart health.

Who doesn't love juice, especially if it is freshly squeezed from a fruit? Many people might even debate over the amount of pulp they want in their glass, although the sweet, tangy citrus has turned out to be a beverage staple on the breakfast stable.

There's one thing unarguable about this-that juice is not just delicious, but also good for anyone who drinks it. In fact, new research presented that orange juice is particularly advantageous for any individual who struggles to maintain good heart health.

Specifically, a study that came out in the European Journal of Nutrition recently claimed that pure OJ is improved with an added dash of hesperidin.

Hesperidin, a type of antioxidant flavonoid which citrus contains, can help in the improvement of "systolic blood pressure."

Study Finding

The same study came out with a conclusion after following 159 adult individuals aged 18 to 65. The respondents were given about two cups each of either hesperidin-enriched juice, fresh juice, or a control beverage containing the same amount of citric acid and Vitamin C every day for 12 consecutive weeks.

Towards the end of the course of the study, the first two groups of participants had considerably lowered their blood pressure compared to those given the control drink.

The research proposed that pure orange juice "may be a valuable addition to the diet to help" in the lowering of blood pressure for adults who are detected with pre-stage or stage 1 hypertension.

In a press release, Dr. Rosa Walsh, from the Florida Department of Citrus and the study author said, the advantages of consuming 100 percent OJ may refer to "hesperidin, which is found" nearly solely in oranges or orange juice.

Having gathered this information, the study author elaborated, OJ might possibly be a better option than grapefruit or other choices of citrus juices for those seeking to improve their levels of blood pressure.

OJ for Reduce Symptoms of Inflammation and Cholesterol Levels

Researchers also closely observed the inflammation markers of the participants during the entire study and discovered those were lowered, as well, resulting in making them believe that hesperidin can indeed ease the symptoms of chronic inflammation.

A past study also found that consuming the same amount of OJ every day for one year helped them reduce the overall cholesterol levels of the participants.

All of this, the researchers claimed, "Is on top of the healthy immune-boosting benefits" that can be produced by the antioxidant vitamin C.

In addition, OJ is an excellent source of potassium too, known for boosting the energy levels and strengthening the bone.

Undeniably too, OJ produces a delicious taste that's why it's difficult to convince anyone to drink it on a daily basis. Nevertheless, since OJ is rich in calories and sugar, it is important that one is careful not to overdo the consumption of it.

The study authors have had their respondents stayed drinking two cups of orange juice every day, and thus, it is perhaps ideal too, for anyone to do the same with his intake of the juice.

Researchers also used pure fruit juice without added sugars or concentrate. Therefore, for anyone who is planning to squeeze his own juice simply, experts highly recommend that you check the labels.
