Public Displays of Affection by Older People Frowned Upon: Study

Public display of affection becomes less acceptable as people get older, finds a study.

Embracing and kissing in public is allowed in many western countries and looked at as mere physical expression of love.  A recent survey carried out by Forza Supplements, a retail division of FORZA industries in U.K. that manufacture nutritional supplements, found people aged over 31 feel uncomfortable kissing and romancing in public, reports the Daily Star.

Their survey covered youngsters and slightly older adults to note their opinions on kissing in public, sending flirtatious mails and messages, wearing caps, getting a tattoo done or donning a bikini after a certain age.

The polls revealed many people aged above 30 did not like showing off their tattoos or even getting one. They mostly believe getting a tattoo is typical teenage behavior to show  rebelliousness. The respondents also felt 24 was the appropriate cut off age for kissing in the streets and 29 for sending e-mails and text messages ending with a kiss. Many participants said using emoticons in messages is a no-no for people over 26 and by 32 people should discard  baseball caps.

The study also observed that age influences the dressing and attire of women in their 40's. The reviews suggest women over 34 must avoid wearing high heels and those above 48 should not wear bikini and skimpy clothes irrespective of how toned and maintained their bodies are.
