Study Finds Women Feel Losing Virginity is a Pleasurable Experience
A new study finds women actually enjoy losing their virginity.
It is a popular notion that men get excited after having sex for the first time and women become all emotional and guilty about their indulgence. A recent research debunks common myths about losing virginity and found women no longer view their first sexual experience as losing immaculacy, reports the Time.
The study found the gender disparities in opinions surrounding the topic of 'first-time-sex' drastically changed in the last two decades. Since 1980, experts began gathering information about personal experiences and mental status of men and women after their very first act of love making. It was observed that all men surveyed throughout the study period reported having same level of 'pleasure' from their first sexual relation. Women increasingly began perceiving the concept of losing virginity as more pleasant and enjoyable.
In addition, the study noted men felt less anxiety and women were less guilty when they became sexually active.
These results match the theory of erotic plasticity, which suggests that a person's sexual behavior and drive is influenced by situational, social and cultural factors.
"Cultural norms for female sexuality have changed considerably, and girls can now be sexually active in romantic relationships. As a consequence, emotional reactions to the experience are likely to converge between genders, although there is no reason to believe that gender differences have disappeared," the authors write in the study, report the eni.network24.
